Rehabilitation Services
At Stratford we believe "teamwork" is an essential part of a residents success in meeting their rehabilitation goals. Every residents therapies are individualized to meet their own personal needs and lifestyle. Families and caregivers are encouraged to be a part of this team by providing input, attending sessions when possible, and receiving prompt communication on any updates in the residents progress.
Physical Therapy Returning the resident to normal life functions as soon as possible is the goal of the physical therapy department. After an illness or injury a resident can be assured of receiving services that will provide them with assistance in precautionary and safe methods of walking, transferring, using a wheel chair or other mobility aides, as well as working on balance and coordination and increasing strength, flexibility and endurance.
Increasing a residents ability to perform activities of daily living is the goal of the occupational therapy department. Therapists will cover such activities as cooking, eating, dressing, personal grooming as well as working on community re-entry.
Speech Therapy The speech therapy department works with residents to maximize communication and cognitive skills, as well as assessing and treating swallowing disorders. Therapists will recommend diet consistencies that are appropriate for the residents safety.
Pet Therapy Say hello to a very important member of the therapy team. Pet therapy has been shown to have a positive effect on a residents physical and emotional well being as well as increasing their social interaction with others. Interaction with animals reduces blood pressure, increases sensory stimulation, inspires a sense of purpose and reduces loneliness by creating a sense of companionship.
